Intermarché-Wanty cycling team × Re-uz

Re-uz ® is proud to support the Intermarché-Wanty professional cycling team and its development team Circus-Re-uz-Technord.

Since its beginnings in 1974 as a small amateur team, the Intermarché-Wanty team has evolved into a major force in professional cycling. The year 2024 has been pivotal for the team, with three notable victories and securing the green jersey at the Tour de France. Re-uz® is honoured to stand alongside the riders for each of these achievements.

BINIAM GIRMAY HAILU, First African to Wear the Green Jersey at the Tour de France

Biniam Girmay Hailu, born April 2, 2000 in Asmara, is an Eritrean professional cyclist with Intermarché-Wanty team. A talented sprinter, he quickly made his mark on the international cycling scene. In 2022, he achieved a historic feat by becoming the first black African to win a stage of the prestigious Giro d’Italia.

In 2024, he made history at the Tour de France by becoming the first African to win the green jersey, an achievement that underscores his consistency and exceptional talent. He stood out three times during this edition, winning stages in Turin, Colombey-les-Deux-Églises, and Villeneuve-sur-Lot. This victory not only marked a turning point in his career, but also highlighted the potential of African cyclists on the world stage.

Biniam Girmay continues to proudly represent Eritrea alongside the Intermarché-Wanty team, with the enthusiastic support of Re-uz ®. In fact, he became the team’s first rider to take part in the Olympic Games at Paris 2024. We’re delighted to support them in this adventure, showcasing Girmay’s exceptional talents and sharing their commitment to excellence in international cycling. Together, we inspire many young athletes and illustrate the strength of a partnership dedicated to success and innovation in sport.

"I'm at a loss for words. I didn't come to this Tour de France with the ambition of winning the green jersey, but simply to demonstrate my qualities. You could say I succeeded. I'm grateful to everyone who helped me finish this Tour de France in the green jersey. When I woke up, I thanked God for this unforgettable day. I'm overwhelmed with emotion. My adventure on this Tour opens a new chapter in the history of cycling, for us Eritreans and Africans. We've been cycling for a long time, but now it's possible to win stages and a green jersey. It's something special. I'd like to thank my compatriots and all those who have supported me, my family, my team, our sponsors, the fans at the roadside, behind their screens. Thank you, everyone. "
